Today’s sunrise and yesterday’s news filled me with hope this morning...until the homeschooling kicked off (and was swiftly abandoned 🥴), BUT THE END IS IN SIGHT. And the sense of relief that the schools are going back is just 🤩🤩🤩🥂🥂🥂💃💃💃

Today’s sunrise and yesterday’s news...

Another snowy grid post - I definitely didn’t think we’d be seeing some lovely pow pow again this year! Spoiler alert - this ain’t Bristol, I’ve been bubbled with my parents in the shire since the little bubs was born...all lockdown legal...⁣and much needed!
⁣
I haven’t posted on the grid in a while, because aside from pleading with my children to do ANY ounce of schoolwork or listen to me barking instructions from a sofa where I’m sat boobs out (feeding a baby, nothing weird), not a lot has happened.⁣
⁣
But today really was a joyous day. Perfect snow, beautiful sunshine, dad had his Covid jab and happy kiddos. I’ll take it.

Another snowy grid post -...

In this Covid age of postnatal care and catch ups with teachers via phone call combined with my sleep-deprived brain, the ‘No Caller ID’ range of communication that I’m currently having to deal with is completely throwing me 😬.
⁣
I’ve definitely gone into waaay too much detail about the birth with the girls’ teachers and the community midwives are more knowledgeable than they should be about my daughters’ schoolwork...😂

Anyone else?

And then there were five...FIVE! I still can’t believe it.⁣ Going to take a while to get my head around that one!
⁣
Needless to say ‘homeschooling’ in the technical sense of the word has taken a bit of a backseat. But the girls are all over things like, ‘how belly buttons come about’, ‘how babies are born’, ‘how to change a nappy’ and the inevitable ‘where do babies come from?’ 😂

And then there were five...FIVE!...

Come to save 2021, one tiny squeak and baby snuffle at a time! ⁣
⁣
8lb 3oz, born a week early (appreciated, thanks bubba), in the early hours, it feels SO good to finally have this little mister here safe and sound, doing his part to even up the boy:girl ratio in this Bristol brood 😂. To say we’re all besotted with this tiny squidge is an understatement.⁣
⁣
Once again, the people - and midwives in particular - who work for the NHS just blow my mind. I’m hugely grateful to them, and one in particular, my midwife buddy @gee_townsley who was on the end of the phone with her wise words and who is totally to thank for his timely arrival. ⁣
⁣
I have to say in these crazy Covid times, I’m very glad I’d done the whole giving birth thing before and kinda knew what I was doing - due to all the restrictions it felt like I barely saw Doug, except for the final push (pun intended). I do feel for new mamas. ⁣

Anyway, Lockdown evenings have now improved infinitely with baby snuggles and a G&T in front of the fire.

Posting a blue sky day from the weekend because it’s nice to see the Portway from a different angle and yesterday was a shocker 🤯.⁣
⁣
My motivation, energy and patience levels were seriously low and child cooperation and ‘homeschooling’ were minimal. But today is a new day right? ⁣
⁣
I have a midwife appointment later and my excitement levels for having Doug home for a day and leaving the house for an hour on my own will be the highlight 😂!

Posting a blue sky day...

Bumpy and blinded by the sunshine ☀️😎. Not that I’m complaining, it was gorgeous out there this morning and certainly beats some of the bleak, overcast days of late! ⁣
⁣
This morning we headed to Saaaf Bristol and it was so nice to see the city from a different angle, spot some street art, hit a new playground and wander along the cycle path (although that was slightly too busy to be relaxing). The River Avon even looked slightly tropical (or has it just been too long since I left the UK? 😂)⁣
⁣
Did you get out for a walk this weekend?

In the short half term my 4 year old went to school in 2020 she started to read and write. In the term she was under our supervision in lockdown 1, she learnt to use the ‘f’ word 😂😬. Don’t worry it’s since been nipped in the bud...buttcrack is now her favourite word.⁣
⁣
Throw a newborn baby into my mix in a few weeks and I don’t hold out much hope for her education this time around 😂⁣
⁣
Gosh I’m gutted for the kiddos. And everyone really. I’m still churning it all over in my brain, and trying to find those positive vibes...I hope you’re all ok out there 😘⁣

Happy New Year everybody, here’s to brighter days in 2021.⁣ I think my most impressive feat of 2020 was that I did half of it sober 😂
⁣
Amazingly I saw midnight last night (admittedly after a snooze 😂), I didn’t intend to, but the thousands of fireworks over Bristol were loud!⁣
⁣
Just watched the London ones, and wow, they’re a bit emosh aren’t they? ⁣
⁣
Sending love to all xx⁣

Happy New Year everybody, here’s...

Last sunrise of 2020, and what a beautiful frosty one it is.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
What wild plans have you got for tonight? We managed to grab some takeaway tapas from one of favourite restaurants @bravasbristol and I’m SO excited. I have no intention of trying to make it until midnight (although I’m sure I’ll see it, what with the 44 wees per night sitch and all)⁣
⁣
I hope you have a good one wherever you are, stay safe peeps xx

Last sunrise of 2020, and...

I find it amusing (and apt) that a photo of me trying my hardest not to be sick on the side of the pavement is my second most popular photo of 2020 😂🤣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I love looking back snapshot-stylee over people’s #topnine, but was particularly intrigued this year. I think this little selection nicely sums up some of the highs (thankful we got that little last-minute Spain trip in early 2020), baby news (and subsequent half year of sickness), some lovely Bristol sunshine plus a couple of lovely memories reposted from previous years.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Thanks for all the likes and the comments! Here’s to 2021...⁣

I’m normally one for keeping Christmas decorations up until the last possible moment (I once kept a Xmas tree up until Feb 😬), but I’m already itching to take ours down. It could be a) because we’ve had our tree so long (in a room with a hot fire), it is now SO dry, b)the sheer amount of stuff now taking over our house after Christmas is putting me on edge a bit, c) a strong nesting instinct kicking in, or d) my desperation to get onto the next chapter. ⁣
⁣
Not 2021 - I’m not anticipating a sudden change of fortune with the year change - but there is the SMALL matter of a bubba’s arrival in the next few weeks and I just want the little one to be here safe and sound! Oh yeah and I might have mentioned before, I’m done being pregnant. Especially lockdown pregnant 😂
